How to Earn Money by Teaching Online: Sell Your Teaching Services on Tutoring Websites, Without Joining Any Institute

Tutor teaching online from home and earning per hour Nouman Lodhi 25 min read
Freelancer getting clients in 2027 with personal branding and platforms

Today we are going to talk about one simple way of earning. It is for people who want to teach and earn money at the same time.

In this way you do not need to go to any institute. You do not need to sit in a classroom all day. You do not need a boss who tells you when to come and when to go. You teach online, from your home, and you earn money on the basis of hours. You teach one hour, you earn for one hour. You teach ten hours in a week, you earn for ten hours.

That is the whole idea. It is simple, and that is why it works for students, for teachers, for housewives, and for anyone who knows one subject well and can explain it in simple words.

First, understand this way in plain words

Think of it like this. A student in another city, or in another country, needs help in maths. You know maths. A website brings you two together. You open your laptop, you start a video call, you teach for one hour, and the student pays for that hour. The website takes its share if it has a share, and the rest comes to you.

You are not an employee of that website. You are not bound to any institute. You choose your subject. You choose your time. You choose your price, on most of these websites. If you want to teach in the evening only, you teach in the evening only. If you want to teach on weekends only, you teach on weekends only.

This is different from a normal teaching job. In a normal job, the institute finds the students, the institute fixes your timing, and the institute fixes your salary. Here, the website helps you find students, but you run your own small teaching work.

Student learning online from home, without going to an institute

Why I am not telling you to just go on Fiverr

You have heard this advice a hundred times. Go on Fiverr, make a gig, wait for orders. That advice is not wrong, but it is very common now, and that is the problem.

On a general freelancing website, you are one of thousands of people selling everything from logo design to video editing to data entry. A parent who wants a maths teacher does not go there first. A student who wants help in physics does not search there first. They go to a place that is made only for teaching.

On a tutoring website, the student is already looking for a teacher. That is a big difference. You do not have to convince a random buyer that teaching is useful. The buyer already knows he needs a teacher. Your job is only to show that you are the right teacher for his subject.

That is why this post does not start with general freelancing websites. It starts with websites that are made for tutors. You go there, you create an account, and you list your teaching services in the subjects where you are professional. Not in ten subjects. In one or two subjects where you can really help.

The exact work you have to do

This part is short, because the work itself is short. It is not easy to get students on day one, but the steps are clear.

First, pick one subject. Not five. One subject you can teach with your eyes closed. If you are good in Class 11 maths, pick Class 11 maths. If you are good in spoken English, pick spoken English. If you are good in biology for entry tests, pick that.

Second, make a profile that sounds like a real person. Write your name, your education, your experience, and one simple line about how you teach. Do not write big difficult words. Write like you are talking to a parent. For example, I teach Class 11 maths in simple steps, with past papers, and I give homework after every class.

Third, record a short introduction video where the rules ask for it. Two minutes is enough. Smile, speak slowly, and solve one small question on screen if you can. Parents trust a face and a voice much more than a long written profile.

Fourth, offer a free trial or a free demo class, where the website allows it. One free class can turn into a student who stays for six months. One paid class with no trust can end after one week.

Fifth, fix your payment rule before the first paid class. Tell the student or the parent, in writing, what is your fee, how many classes in a week, and when the payment will come. For local students, take the monthly fee in advance. For foreign students on a platform, the platform already handles the payment, so follow the platform rule.

That is it. Now let us look at the websites, one by one, in simple words, so you do not need to go anywhere else after reading this post.

Tutor profiles for local students and foreign students on a screen

1. Superprof

Link: https://www.superprof.com

In simple words, Superprof is a big notice board for teachers. You put up your teaching ad, and students find you. It works in Pakistan, in India, and in many other countries around the world. That is why it is first in this list. If you want one website that covers almost everywhere, start here.

What you can teach here is almost anything. School maths, physics, chemistry, biology, English, computer science, music, drawing, and many skills. You are not limited to school subjects only. If you can teach it well, you can list it.

How to join is simple. You create a free account, you write your profile, you set your hourly price, and you set your timing. You can teach online, or in person if the student is in your city. You can also give the first lesson free, which many tutors do to build trust.

How you get paid is different here, and you must understand it. On Superprof, the lesson payment is normally arranged directly between you and the student. Superprof says you choose how you get paid, with no commission fees on that direct payment, and all payment for academic tutoring is arranged solely between tutor and student. If you choose to get paid through the platform for a lesson package, Superprof says you will be charged a 10 percent service fee for that option. So read the payment page on your own account before you start, and decide which way you want.

For a student in Pakistan, direct payment usually means bank transfer, JazzCash, or Easypaisa. For a foreign student, direct payment usually means PayPal, Payoneer, or bank transfer, depending on what both of you can use. Never share your bank password, your OTP code, or your card details with a student. Payment details and login details are two different things. You give payment details only on a safe payment page, never in a chat message to a stranger.

Where it works: Pakistan, India, and worldwide. That is the main strength of Superprof.

Honest downside: because it is so big, new tutors can wait for the first student. Your profile must be complete, your photo must be clear, and your price must be fair for a beginner. Do not set a very high price on day one and then wonder why no one messages you.

Best for: a beginner who wants to teach school subjects or a skill, in Pakistan or to foreign students, and who wants full control over price and timing.

2. Preply

Link: https://preply.com

In simple words, Preply is a classroom website. Students come there to learn languages and school subjects, one to one, on video call. You set your own price, you set your own hours, and Preply brings students to your profile.

What you can teach here is mostly languages, like English, Urdu, Arabic, and other languages, plus school subjects like maths and science. Language teaching works best here. If you teach only Class 11 maths, you can still try, but language teachers get more demand on Preply.

How to join: you apply as a tutor, you fill your profile, you record an introduction video, and you wait for approval. Approval can take a few working days. Do not pay anyone who says he can approve your Preply account for money. Approval is free, and it comes from Preply only.

How you get paid is very important here, because the commission is high in the start. Preply takes 100 percent of a new student's trial lesson. After that, Preply takes 33 percent for your first 20 hours, and the percentage falls step by step to 18 percent after 400 hours. That means in the start you keep less, and later you keep more.

For withdrawal, Preply lists Wise, Payoneer, PayPal, and Skrill, plus bank transfer powered by Wise where available. PayPal, Payoneer, and Skrill pay in US dollars. Bank transfer and Wise can pay in local currency in some countries. Fees and minimum amounts change by method, so check your own withdrawal page inside Preply before you choose a method. In Pakistan, Payoneer to a local bank is the method most tutors check first, because PayPal does not work the same way for receiving money in Pakistan.

Where it works: worldwide, including Pakistan and India, for online lessons.

Honest downside: the first trial lesson pays you nothing, and the early commission is high. Many new tutors feel disappointed after the first week. Do not judge Preply by the first week. Judge it after 20 hours, when your commission falls and your reviews start to bring repeat students.

Best for: language teachers, especially English and Urdu teachers, who can teach regularly and who want foreign students who pay in dollars.

3. italki

Link: https://www.italki.com

In simple words, italki is only for languages. It is not for maths, physics, or chemistry. It is for people who want to learn a language by talking to a real person.

There are two types of teachers here. Professional teachers, who have teaching certificates, and community tutors, who are fluent speakers and can help students practice. If you speak English, Urdu, or any other language clearly and fluently, you can apply as a community tutor even without a big teaching degree. Professional teachers can charge more, but community tutors get students faster in the start.

How to join: you apply, you upload your documents, you record an introduction video, and you set your price for 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute lessons. Students book you, they pay in italki credits, and after the lesson is complete, the credits come to your teacher wallet.

How you get paid: italki takes a 15 percent commission on completed lessons, not counting trial lessons in the same way. You can withdraw through PayPal, Hyperwallet, Payoneer, or bank transfer through Payoneer, in US dollars. The minimum withdrawal amount is 30 US dollars in italki credits. italki itself does not charge a withdrawal fee, but the payment provider may charge its own fee. For example, PayPal is listed at about 2 percent, Hyperwallet at about 1.5 percent, and Payoneer at a 3 dollar flat fee for each transfer, with bank transfer fees changing by country. Withdrawals are collected twice a month, so do not expect daily payment here.

Where it works: worldwide, for language lessons. Students come from Japan, South Korea, China, Europe, America, and many other places.

Honest downside: if you do not teach a language, italki is not for you. Also, your price must be realistic. A new community tutor who charges 40 dollars an hour will wait a long time. Start low, get reviews, then raise your price slowly.

Best for: fluent English, Urdu, Arabic, or other language speakers who enjoy talking, correcting, and practicing with students, not just teaching grammar from a book.

Language teacher talking on a video call with a student

4. Cambly

Link: https://www.cambly.com

In simple words, Cambly is for English conversation practice. Students come here to talk in English with a fluent speaker, not to study a full school syllabus. You do not prepare long lessons. You talk, you correct mistakes gently, and you help the student become confident.

This is the easiest entry point for many people, because you do not need to be a school teacher. You need clear English, a good internet connection, a quiet room, and patience. Cambly is mainly for adults, and Cambly Kids is for children aged 4 to 15, with a higher rate.

How to join: you apply, you record a short introduction video, and you wait for approval. Note one honest point. Cambly sometimes limits new tutor signups, so if the application page says it is not accepting new tutors at that time, do not pay anyone to open it for you. Try again later, or try another website from this list.

How you get paid: Cambly pays a fixed rate, you do not set it. The rate is 0.17 dollars per minute for Cambly, which is 10.20 dollars per hour, and 0.20 dollars per minute for Cambly Kids, which is 12 dollars per hour. You are paid for minutes spent talking, not for minutes spent waiting for a call. Payment is processed on Tuesdays through PayPal or Stripe, and the method available depends on your country. You can choose to be paid every 1 week, every 2 weeks, or every 4 weeks. Some older pages say weekly PayPal with no minimum, and some newer pages say weekly payment once at least 20 dollars is owed, so check the payment page in your own Cambly account. That page is the final truth for your country.

Where it works: worldwide, for English conversation. Students come from many countries, especially where English is needed for jobs and study.

Honest downside: the rate is fixed and low compared to a private tutor who charges 30 dollars an hour. Cambly is good for filling spare hours and for getting comfortable with foreign students. It is not the best place if you want a high hourly rate from day one.

Best for: fluent English speakers who want simple, flexible work, without preparing full lessons, and who are happy with a fixed hourly rate.

Two people talking in English on a video call

5. LRNKEY

Link: https://lrnkey.com/become-tutor

In simple words, LRNKEY is a smaller global tutoring website. Smaller is good for a beginner, because big websites have thousands of tutors in the same subject. On a smaller website, a good profile can be seen faster.

What you can teach here is many subjects, from school maths and science to programming, music, business skills, and languages. You can add up to 3 skills, but LRNKEY itself recommends using 1 skill in the start, so students understand clearly what you teach.

How to join: you give your name, email, and phone number, you upload a clear photo, you upload an introduction video, you select your subjects, and you set your price per hour. LRNKEY says most effective prices are around 15 to 25 dollars per hour, and lessons can start from 5 dollars per hour for a beginner, with most tutors in the 15 to 35 dollar range in later guides. Start in the lower part of that range if you have no reviews yet.

How you get paid: LRNKEY takes only a 10 percent commission, which is much lower than Preply in the start. You can withdraw through PayPal or Payoneer. When you withdraw more than 100 dollars, LRNKEY pays the transfer fees. When you withdraw less than 100 dollars, the PayPal and Payoneer fees are paid by the tutor. That is a small detail, but it matters. Wait until you have more than 100 dollars if you can, so you do not lose money on fees again and again.

Where it works: worldwide, online. Students and tutors come from many countries.

Honest downside: because it is smaller, there are fewer students than on Preply or Superprof. You should not depend on LRNKEY alone in the first month. Use it with one bigger website, and let both bring you students.

Best for: a beginner who wants low commission, a simple profile, and a fair chance to be seen without fighting thousands of tutors in the same subject.

6. Wiingy

Link: https://wiingy.com

In simple words, Wiingy is a global tutoring website for one to one live lessons. It covers more than 350 subjects, including maths, science, coding, computer science, languages, and music. Tutors on Wiingy are vetted, which means the website checks them before they teach.

How to join: you apply as a tutor, you pass their vetting process, which can include an interview, a mock lesson, or a subject test, depending on your subject, and then you set your rate and your hours. Lessons start at about 15 dollars per hour for tutors in many guides, and student prices can start around 28 to 30 dollars per hour, so do not confuse the student price with your tutor pay. Always confirm your agreed tutor rate in writing before your first trial lesson.

How you get paid: Wiingy handles billing, so you do not chase students for payment. After a lesson, your account is credited with your earnings, and tutors are typically paid on a regular schedule, for example weekly, biweekly, or monthly payouts, through bank transfer or other payment methods, as long as you meet the minimum payout threshold. Wiingy also says tutors are paid for demo cancellations for the first few demos, which is a helpful safety net that many websites do not give.

Where it works: worldwide, online, with learners from more than 20 countries in Wiingy's own tutor job pages.

Honest downside: the vetting process can feel strict, and the exact payout method and threshold can change by country. If you fail the mock lesson, do not take it personally. Practice one simple lesson, record yourself once, fix your mistakes, and apply again.

Best for: maths, science, and coding tutors who are confident in their subject and who want a vetted platform where students already expect to pay for quality.

7. Outschool, read this before you apply

Link: https://outschool.com/teach

In simple words, Outschool is a website where parents book live online classes for children, aged 3 to 18. Teachers set their own class price, they set the class size, and they teach group classes, one to one tutoring, or self paced classes.

This part is very important, so read it slowly. Outschool says teachers must be residents of the 50 United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, or the United Kingdom. If you live in Pakistan, you are not eligible to teach on Outschool at this time, even if you are a great teacher. I am including Outschool here so you do not waste weeks applying on a website that will reject you for location, and so you understand why some teachers talk about Outschool a lot online, but you cannot use it from Pakistan right now.

If you do live in one of the eligible countries, here is how it works. Outschool takes a 30 percent service fee, so you keep 70 percent of the class price. For example, if you charge 15 dollars per student and 4 students join, the total is 60 dollars, and you receive 42 dollars. Outschool is moving teacher payouts from PayPal to Stripe, so set up your payout profile inside your Outschool teacher dashboard, not directly on Stripe's website, or you may create a duplicate profile. Payouts are sent about 7 days after a class or a week starts, depending on the class type.

Where it works: for teachers, only in the countries listed above. For students, worldwide online.

Honest downside for Pakistani readers: location restriction. For eligible readers: group classes need more preparation than one to one lessons, and you must be comfortable teaching children online, with parent communication.

Best for: teachers living in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Korea, or Spain, who want to teach children in groups and earn from more than one student at the same time.

8. GetTutor.pk, for Pakistan first

Link: https://gettutor.pk

In simple words, GetTutor.pk is a Pakistani tutoring service. It is not a big global website. It is made for students in Pakistan, and that is its strength. If you want local students, in your own city, in your own language, and in your own board syllabus, this is a good place to start.

What you can teach here is school subjects, Matric, FSc, O Level, A Level, MDCAT, ECAT, SAT, IELTS, and many other subjects. GetTutor.pk offers both home tutoring and online classes, in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and more cities. Tutors are interviewed before onboarding, and students get 1 free trial class per subject, then paid classes.

How to join: this is different from a global website. You do not just make a public profile and wait. You apply as a tutor, the team interviews you, and then they match you with students who fit your subject, your city, and your timing. That matching system is helpful for a beginner, because you do not have to do all the marketing yourself in the start.

How you get paid: GetTutor.pk does not publish one fixed withdrawal page like Preply or italki, because it works more like a tutoring agency. In practice, for local students, payment is usually agreed as a monthly fee, hourly fee, or weekly package, and paid through bank transfer, JazzCash, or Easypaisa, or in cash for home tuition in some cases. Do not start a full month without a clear payment rule. Ask these three questions before the first paid class. What is the monthly fee. On which date will it be paid. Who will collect it, the parent directly, or the GetTutor.pk team. Write the answers in WhatsApp or email, so both sides remember them.

Where it works: Pakistan, for home and online tutoring, plus online students abroad who follow Pakistani or Cambridge syllabus.

Honest downside: because it is agency style, you may not control your price fully, and you may have to wait for a match. Also, always check the tutor application page on the official website, because agency rules, fees, and city coverage can change.

Best for: Pakistani tutors who want local students fast, who know BISE, Matric, FSc, or O and A Level syllabus well, and who are comfortable with home tuition or online classes in Pakistan time.

Pakistani tutor teaching a student on Zoom or Google Meet

9. Nuha Tutors, for Pakistan and overseas Pakistani students

Link: https://nuhatutors.com

In simple words, Nuha Tutors connects families with male and female home tutors and online tutors in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, plus online students in Pakistan and abroad. It is a premium style service, which means parents expect verified tutors, good communication, and a proper demo.

What you can teach here is Matric, FSc, O Level, A Level, AS Level, IGCSE, IB, and entry tests. Home tutors teach in the four main cities listed above. Online tutors teach live one to one classes on Zoom or Google Meet, for students in Pakistan, the Gulf, the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia, with timings matched to the student's time zone.

How to join: you apply as a tutor, your education and teaching experience are checked before your profile is shared with a family, and then you teach a free 2 day demo. That demo is your real interview. Teach slowly, ask the student questions, and show the parent a small plan for the next four weeks. A good demo brings a long term student. A rushed demo brings nothing.

How you get paid: like GetTutor.pk, Nuha Tutors is agency style, so there is no single public withdrawal button to explain here. Payment is normally agreed per student, per month, or per package, and for local students it is usually bank transfer, JazzCash, or Easypaisa. For overseas students, payment is usually arranged through the service, in dollars or pounds, and then paid to the tutor by bank transfer. Before you start, confirm your monthly fee, your payment date, and who sends the payment, in writing. Never start teaching a full month on a verbal promise alone.

Where it works: home tuition in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. Online tuition in Pakistan and worldwide, especially for Pakistani families living abroad.

Honest downside: the demo standard is high, and premium parents ask many questions. If you are shy on camera, or if you cannot explain a topic in simple words, practice first with a younger cousin or a friend, then apply.

Best for: Pakistani tutors who are strong in O and A Level, IGCSE, IB, or BISE subjects, and who want both local and overseas students.

10. TutorSphere, for Pakistan and worldwide online

Link: https://tutorspheresnetwork.com

In simple words, TutorSphere is a Pakistani tutoring network that offers home tuition and online tuition for school, O Level, A Level, IGCSE, GCSE, IB, and university students. Its own homepage says it has more than 4000 qualified tutors, more than 20 subjects and curricula, and coverage in 5 major cities, plus worldwide online.

What you can teach here is school subjects, Cambridge subjects, and university subjects, one to one. Home tuition is in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, and also listed for UAE, Saudi Arabia, and UK in its city pages, but for a tutor in Pakistan, the main work is home tuition in Pakistan cities, and online tuition for students anywhere.

How to join: you apply to join TutorSphere's verified tutor network, you share your qualifications and experience, and the academic team matches you with a student who fits your subject and timing. This is again agency style, not a fully open profile website. That means you do not need to fight for clicks, but you do need to pass verification.

How you get paid: TutorSphere does not publish a single fixed tutor withdrawal page in the same way as Preply. Payment is agreed per student and per package, and for local students it is normally bank transfer, JazzCash, or Easypaisa, and for foreign students it is arranged through the service. As with all agency websites in this list, confirm your fee, your payment date, and your payment method in writing before the first paid class. If a person on WhatsApp asks you to pay a registration fee to a personal JazzCash number to join TutorSphere, stop and check the official website first. Real platforms do not ask for payment through a random personal number.

Where it works: Pakistan for home tuition, and worldwide for online tuition.

Honest downside: agency matching can be slow in the start, and you may get a student who is not a perfect fit for your timing. Be clear about your available hours from day one, so you do not get matched with a student you cannot teach.

Best for: Pakistani tutors who want verified work, who are comfortable with a matching system, and who want both local and international online students.

11. GoTutify, for Pakistan nationwide

Link: https://gotutify.com

In simple words, GoTutify is a Pakistani tutoring platform that connects verified tutors and mentors with students across Pakistan. It covers academic tuition and skill development, not just one board or one city.

What you can teach here is O and A Levels, Matric and FSc, maths and physics, chemistry and biology, English and languages, plus mentorship, career counseling, and exam preparation guidance. GoTutify says its tutors are background checked, and it serves Hyderabad, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and nationwide.

How to join: you visit the official website, you look for the tutor joining page, and you apply with your subjects, your education, and your experience. Because requirements can change, read the joining page on the day you apply, and do not trust an old screenshot from social media.

How you get paid: GoTutify is also a local platform, so payment is normally agreed per student, per month, or per package, through bank transfer, JazzCash, or Easypaisa for local students. Confirm your fee and payment date in writing before you start, just like with the other Pakistani platforms in this list.

Where it works: Pakistan, nationwide, for home and online tuition.

Honest downside: as a newer and smaller local platform compared to global websites, student flow can be uneven. Use GoTutify with one other website, not as your only source of students in the first month.

Best for: Pakistani tutors who want nationwide reach, who can teach Matric, FSc, or O and A Level subjects, and who also like mentoring and exam guidance, not just chapter teaching.

12. PakTutorOnline, for teaching the world from Pakistan

Link: https://www.paktutoronline.com

In simple words, PakTutorOnline is a team of teachers from Pakistan, teaching students around the world. It is focused on international curricula, not on local BISE syllabus only. That makes it different from the other Pakistani websites in this list.

What you can teach here is O Level, IGCSE, GCSE, A Level, and IB subjects, under Cambridge, Edexcel, Edexcel International, AQA, OCR, and IB boards. Teachers here include British Council certified teachers, and the team says more than 135 students had sat their exams after preparing with them by May and June 2026.

How to join: you contact the team on the official website, you share your level, board, subjects, and preferred times, they match you with a student, they book a trial, and then they set up a weekly schedule. This is a team model, not a fully open profile model, so your communication with the team matters as much as your subject knowledge.

How you get paid: PakTutorOnline charges students in US dollars, because students are in different countries. One to one IGCSE, O Level, and GCSE classes are listed at 12 dollars per hour per subject. Group classes are listed at 25 dollars per month per subject, with 3 live classes a week. One to one A Level classes are listed at 18 dollars per hour per subject. Group A Level classes are listed at 40 dollars per month per subject, with 3 classes a week in groups of 3 to 5 students. These are student prices, not necessarily your full tutor pay, so confirm your tutor share, your payment date, and your payment method with the team before you start. Classes are timed for Pakistan, the Gulf, the UK, Europe, or North America, so you must be comfortable teaching in different time zones.

Where it works: tutors from Pakistan, students worldwide, online only.

Honest downside: international boards need exact syllabus knowledge. If you know only BISE syllabus, do not apply for Cambridge IGCSE on day one. Learn one board properly, teach past papers for that board, and then apply.

Best for: Pakistani tutors who know Cambridge, Edexcel, or IB syllabus well, who speak clear English, and who want dollar paying international students without leaving Pakistan.

Tutor in Pakistan teaching students in different time zones around the world

Websites that work only in one region, do not waste time on the wrong one

Many students waste weeks applying on websites that cannot accept them. This short section saves you that time.

For India only: Vedantu and Unacademy are mainly for India. Vedantu is one of India's leading online learning platforms, for K-12 and competitive exams like JEE and NEET. Vedantu says payouts are done on a monthly basis, and all payouts are released before the 5th of every month to teachers. Vedantu also says there is no registration fee to enroll as a teacher, and teachers can set their own price as per given standards. Vedantu expects minimum 3 hours of daily availability between 4 and 10 PM IST in many teacher pages, so it is not a one hour a week side work for most teachers. If you live in India, and you know JEE, NEET, or CBSE syllabus, Vedantu is worth checking on its official become a teacher page. If you live in Pakistan, skip Vedantu for now, and use the Pakistan and worldwide websites above.

Unacademy is also mainly for India, for competitive exam preparation like UPSC, SSC, IIT JEE, NEET, and other exams. Educators on Unacademy usually need a bachelor's degree, and they teach live classes and recorded lessons. Again, if you live in India, check the official educator page. If you live in Pakistan, do not spend your first month on Unacademy.

For USA only: Wyzant is a US tutoring marketplace. Tutors set their own rates, commonly between 25 and 100 dollars per hour, and Wyzant keeps a 25 percent platform fee, so you keep 75 percent, except for students you bring yourself, where you keep 100 percent of your rate. Money is paid by direct deposit to a US bank on the 1st and 15th of each month. That means a tutor in Pakistan without a US bank account cannot use Wyzant easily. If you live in the US, Wyzant is strong. If you live in Pakistan, skip it.

For UK only: Tutorful and MyTutor are mainly for the UK. They work well for tutors living in the UK, teaching UK curriculum. If you live in Pakistan, you can still teach UK students through PakTutorOnline, Nuha Tutors, or Superprof, but do not apply to a UK only platform expecting worldwide eligibility.

The lesson is simple. Always check the eligibility line first. Where can teachers live. Where can students live. How will I be paid. If any of those three answers does not fit you, move to the next website. Do not force a fit.

Checklist for region, payment, and eligibility before applying

How to get your first 5 students, without waiting for months

A website alone does not bring students. A good profile plus a small amount of daily work brings students. Here is a simple system that works for many new tutors.

First, teach your own circle first. Tell your younger cousins, your neighbours, and your old teachers that you are now teaching online. One recommendation from a teacher you respect is worth more than 20 cold messages.

Second, convince parents, not only students. Parents pay the fee. Show a parent your result, your demo video, and one solved past paper. Parents do not buy promises. They buy proof.

Third, give free value every day. Solve one question daily on TikTok, Reels, or Shorts. Share one past paper solution as a PDF on WhatsApp. Give a free demo class on WhatsApp or Zoom. Free value builds trust, and trust brings paid students.

Fourth, join parents and education groups in your city on Facebook, but do not post, give me students. Answer a question. Post a solved problem. Help first, then mention your batch only when someone asks.

Fifth, apply on 2 or 3 websites from this list, not on 10 websites at once. Two complete profiles are better than ten half complete profiles. A complete profile has a clear photo, a short video, one subject, a fair price, and clear timing.

After your first student, do one more thing. Ask for a review, and ask for a referral. One happy student and one happy parent can bring you two more students. That is how 1 student becomes 5, and 5 students become a full batch.

One happy student telling two more students about a tutor

How much money can you really make, in simple maths

All figures in this post are estimates, before tax, and not promises. Your income depends on your subject, your price, your reviews, and how many hours you teach.

Let us do simple maths, so you can see the difference between local and foreign students.

Local group batch: 15 students, each paying 2000 rupees per month, is 30000 rupees per month for one batch. That is a realistic target for a good local tutor after a few months, not on day one. You teach that batch about 1 hour a day, 5 or 6 days a week.

Local one to one: 800 to 1500 rupees per hour is common for school subjects in Pakistan, depending on subject, level, and city. O and A Level one to one can be higher, because parents pay more for international syllabus.

Foreign one to one: 10 to 25 dollars per hour is common for a beginner to intermediate tutor on global websites, after commission. If you teach 10 hours a week at 15 dollars per hour, after commission, that is roughly 120 to 150 dollars per week, before payment provider fees and before tax. That is not a salary promise. It is maths to help you plan. If you teach 2 hours a week, your income will be small. If you teach 20 hours a week, it will be bigger, but you must also prepare, reply to messages, and handle cancellations.

Group classes for children on Outschool, for eligible teachers, can pay more per hour, because you teach 4 or 5 students at once and you keep 70 percent. That is why group teaching is a smart second step, after you are comfortable with one to one teaching.

Do not believe any website or video that promises a fixed monthly income from teaching online. No website can promise that, because students, timing, and reviews change every week. What you can control is your subject, your demo, your price, and your consistency.

Safety rules, read them once and remember them forever

Teaching online is safe work, if you follow a few simple rules.

Never share your password with any website, any student, or any person who says he is from support. Real support never asks for your password. Never share your OTP code, your bank login, or a photo of your CNIC with a stranger in a chat. Payment details are for a safe payment page only.

Never pay a registration fee to a personal JazzCash, Easypaisa, or bank account to join a tutoring website. Real websites either take a commission from your earnings, or they charge a student subscription, but they do not ask a new tutor to send money to a personal number on WhatsApp. If someone asks you to do that, stop, and check the official website yourself.

Never teach a full month without a payment rule in writing. For local students, take the monthly fee in advance if you can. For platform students, follow the platform payment rule, and do not move a platform student to direct payment just to avoid commission, unless the platform clearly allows it. Breaking platform rules can get your account closed, and then you lose all your students at once.

Never share a student's private information, photos, or school details online. If you want to post a success story, ask the parent first, and hide the student's full name, school name, and photo unless the parent clearly agrees.

Keep your own records from day one. Write down each student, each class, each payment, and each fee. When tax time comes, or when a payment is late, your own record will save you.

What to do today, in 7 days, and in 30 days

Today: pick one subject, and pick two websites from this list. One from the worldwide list, and one from the Pakistan list, if you are in Pakistan. For example, Superprof plus GetTutor.pk, or Preply plus Nuha Tutors if you teach a language.

In 7 days: complete both profiles, record your introduction video, set a fair beginner price, and give at least one free demo class, even if it is to a younger cousin. A demo class teaches you more than a week of reading about tutoring.

In 30 days: teach regularly, ask for reviews after every happy class, raise your price a little after 10 positive reviews, and start a small group batch if you have 5 or more students in the same subject and level. Do not wait for perfection. Start with a good profile, improve it every week, and let your students teach you what to improve next.

Final words

You do not need an institute to start teaching online. You need one subject you know well, one clear profile, one good demo, and one fair payment rule. The websites in this post are tools. They do not teach for you. You teach. They only help students find you.

Pick your subject today. Make your profile today. Give your first demo this week. That is how earning by teaching online actually starts, not by watching another video about earning, but by teaching one real student, well, for one real hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I earn money by teaching online without joining an institute?

Yes. You can teach on tutoring websites from your home, on your own timing, and earn on the basis of hours. You are not an employee of the website, and you are not bound to an institute, but you must follow the website rules for profile, payment, and student safety.

Which subject should I pick first?

Pick one subject you can teach with confidence, and where you have proof, like good marks, past paper practice, or previous teaching experience. One strong subject brings students faster than five weak subjects.

Do I need a teaching degree to teach online?

Not always. For school subjects on many tutoring websites, good subject knowledge, a clear demo, and good reviews matter most. For professional teacher roles on italki, Vedantu, or Unacademy, certificates and degrees help you charge more and get selected faster. Check the requirements on the official application page for your subject.

Which tutoring website is best for a beginner in Pakistan?

For local students, GetTutor.pk, Nuha Tutors, TutorSphere, and GoTutify are good starting points. For foreign students, Superprof and LRNKEY are good because they are simpler and have lower commission pressure than Preply in the start. Apply on two websites, not ten, and complete both profiles fully.

How do I withdraw my earnings from Preply, italki, and Cambly?

Preply pays through Wise, Payoneer, PayPal, and Skrill, plus bank transfer powered by Wise where available. italki pays through PayPal, Hyperwallet, Payoneer, or bank transfer through Payoneer, with a minimum withdrawal of 30 US dollars. Cambly pays through PayPal or Stripe, depending on your country, on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly schedule you choose. For Pakistan, check Payoneer first, because PayPal receiving works differently in Pakistan.

How do I get paid for local students in Pakistan?

For local students, payment is usually a monthly fee in advance, paid through bank transfer, JazzCash, or Easypaisa, or in cash for home tuition. Always confirm the fee, the payment date, and who will pay, in writing, before the first paid class.

Why should I not start only on Fiverr for teaching?

Fiverr is a general freelancing website, not a tutoring website. Parents and students looking for a teacher go to tutoring websites first, because those websites are made for teaching. On a tutoring website, the student already wants a teacher, so your job is only to show you are the right teacher.

How long does it take to get the first student?

It can take a few days, or a few weeks. A complete profile, a short introduction video, a fair beginner price, and a free demo class make it faster. A half complete profile, a very high price, and no video make it slower. Do not judge a website by the first week alone.

Is Outschool available for tutors in Pakistan?

No, not at this time. Outschool says teachers must be residents of the United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, or the United Kingdom. If you live in Pakistan, use the Pakistan and worldwide websites in this post instead.

What should I never share with a student or a stranger online?

Never share your password, your OTP code, your bank login, or a photo of your CNIC in a chat. Never pay a registration fee to a personal JazzCash or Easypaisa number to join a website. Real platforms take commission from earnings, or charge students a subscription, but they do not ask new tutors to send money to a personal number.

All earnings figures in this post are estimates, before tax, and not promises. Commission rates, withdrawal methods, minimum amounts, and eligibility rules change over time. Always check the official page of each website on the day you apply, and confirm your fee, payment date, and payment method in writing before your first paid class.
